I've saved every bib and medal I've ever gotten since I started running in the sixth grade. I keep them all up- even though it's messy- as a reminder of everything. It's not really vanity, just a way to remember where I've come from, running wise.
Once, in the seventh grade, we had to bring in something important to us for public speaking class. I brought in all my bibs I had so far and my teacher threw them out, thinking they were trash. I was DEVASTATED. They aren't even awards, just a piece of paper that probably gets pretty gross. But there is a feeling of accomplishment with every race you do, and when I was just starting out, every 5k was a huge achievement. I was not ever very good at sports until I found running. And I was a total dork in middle school so being good at something meant so much to me, I felt like I was finally finding myself. And the teacher was so mean about it! "I thought it was trash..." Can you see I sometimes hold grudges? Ha! Well, my dad had given me a couple of his bibs from when we ran certain races together, but I'll always be missing a couple of my first bibs and I'll never throw out a bib. So there,
