Calm before the storm

I have two races this weekend. The idea is sounding more and more rediculous to me as I think about it. I'll be running the Mini 10k in Saturday but before that, I have a 5k on Friday night. It called cook your buns. I'm sort of over racing 5ks; not because I'm betond that distance, but because racing is just so expensive, especially when you're on a college student budget. When I want to race, I try to pick something worthwhile. You know, with a good tshirt, or if a lot of my friends will be racing as well. I've always wanted to run the mini because it seems like a really cool thing to race with only women, also it's a club points race. I got myself a new running skirt and everything. Needless tO say, there is definitely some excitement. Cook your buns is actually a great 5k, though. Whole Foods sponsors it so there is a free BBQ at the end. The entire fam is coming so that will be nice. We rarely all race together. I already made a pact not to really race this 5k, though. Because Saturday is a club points race, I'd really like to do well. That, and pretty much everyone I race with will be there running or cheering. Today, I decided to take it easy, with the upcoming mileage happening. Well I guess it's not so much the mileage, but more the race aspect. I run a lot, but ever sense my knee injury in 2011, I haven't felt very strong or very confident. I can do long and slow with some short stretch breaks, or a pretty fast 5k, but that's all I've felt capable of doing. I think that's why I'm tryin to crosstrain so much; I will never be the person strong from countless marathons, but I can still be strong. I did a 45 mins of running yesterday and I just swam for a while today. I wanted some cardio but nothing with any real impact. I wanted my legs to get some rest. I don't really have any times in mind for this week, just to be nice and strong and have good form. Some guy friends who can't race Saturday will be acting as paperrazzi and I want some pics of me lookin strong in my new skirt! In other news, my tv shows are coming to a close. Game of Thrones ended Sunday, girls is almost through, and that's it. Of course, True blood starts next week, but that's it for me. When I get to this point In the year I realize just how much television I actually watch. I just get too emotionaly involved. I'm still freaking out about the Fringe finale. Man, I'm going to miss that show. I know I should be greatful for 13 more episodes, but I want a full season, damnit! Oh well. Game of Thrones finale was awesome but still so Many questions. The white walkers were terrifying, Dany got out (but a bit too easily if you ask me) and holy crap!!! When that dude's face changed?!?! Scared me but was prob one of my favorite parts of the episode. That's it I guess, until tomorrow for race pt. 1. Not that psyched to race a 5k but psyched for a an awesome veggie burger. This chick is truly powered by television and food :) ~ s.r.t.
